High amounts of spores of meadow and wood mushrooms (Basidomycetes) are present in the air. Persons allergic to the fungal spores of the genus Cladosporium should stay careful as these spores are still present in the air.

Good to know

The allerginicity of basidiospores is well known but the allergens in question are to date not yet as well studied as for pollen and other fungal spores. However, when concentrations are high, they can trigger symptoms of respiratory allergy (rhinitis, asthma) in sensitized persons.
